This opportunity is ideal for an experienced chess coach or competitive player passionate about teaching students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The role involves working as a Chess Teacher on a contract basis, providing after-school instruction and coaching to young learners. The position offers flexible hours with a commitment of 5-10 hours per week, typically scheduled between 3 PM and 6 PM.

Proven background in competitive chess playing or coaching

Location:

Primarily based in Washington, DC, with commuting required to multiple campuses across Maryland and Virginia

Responsibilities

Teach chess strategies and techniques to students of various skill levels
Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and sportsmanship through chess instruction
Manage after-school class sessions and adapt lessons to meet varying student abilities
Support chess team participation and facilitate competitive events when applicable
